Here at STM we are trying to bring you some fine examples of some very clean working trucks. We look at many different factors such as colors or paint schemes, amount of customization, originality and style, and if the truck stands out in a crowd. We think we found one that does stand out when we found Dave Dawe's 1998 379 extended hood Peterbilt. Dave went to work for Vandermolen Moving & Storage, an agent for Wheaton Van Lines, and six month later bought his then company truck. After owning the truck for a year now this truck does stand out.

The truck is a 1998 379 extended hood with a 550 HP CAT. Getting the power to the road is the job of the 15 speed Eaton Fuller transmission backed by the 3.70 rears with 24.5 tires. This all attached to a 265 inch wheel base frame with a 63 inch double bunk unibilt sleeper. Making it stand out was accomplished by adding the custom roadster style head lights on JJ brackets and grill inserts. On top of the grill is the antique style radiator cap hood ornament with chrome handles. He added chromed windshield wipers and chromed windshield trim with a big drop window visor. On top of the cab he added glass marker lenses. He wrapped the tanks with custom tank covers and added extra long quarter fenders to keep the tanks clean. To make sure he is seen he added 73 lights including all the LED's in the chrome light bracket on the back. To add to his enjoyment of the truck he installed a Kenwood excelon series flipface CD player with a Kenwood 10 disk CD changer. High quality sound is achieved with his ZR360 Kicker amp driving his two MTX7000 10 inch sub-woofers and the premium sound speakers from Peterbilt. It is our opinion here at STM, and we think you will agree, this truck does stand out.
