"Sunrise Express"

As a local driver my company occasionally asked me to go to Phoenix,AZ. As many of you may know, I used these times to advertise for STM. One day as I was broadcasting my improvised infomercial I saw this awesome truck. But as fate would have it, it was going the other way. Then two weeks later fate smiled on me once again. I was on a job site and there it was, the awesome truck that I saw on my way to Phoenix. Without missing a gear I made a B-line over to where it was unloading and quickly approached the driver with camera in hand. I began to explain who I was and what I was up to. I gave the driver my phone number and it back to work for me. A couple of calls later and we met up again. This time the truck and the drivers were both ready.

I finally got to get a good look at this truck that Ron Kelsey of Kelsey's Trucking called Sunrise Express. From these photos I think you will agree, it was worth the wait. I got the grand tour. Starting from the front to the back it was flawless. For a working truck with over 2.5 million miles on it, it looked great. Ron payed attention to every detail from the little lights in the engine compartment to make the engine sparkle while on display at shows to the finely detailed dash. It was hard to think of this truck as a work truck.

Ron contacted Henry's Rods and restos to apply the Tangelo Orange and Wheatland Yellow paint mixed with Sunrise pearl gold flake to the truck and trailer so they both matched. He has recently updated the 178 running lights to LEDs to get the same attention at night as he does during the day. This 1981 359 Peterbilt has it all. With the 400hp Cummins with its 6+4 tranny and 3.90 rears. it is ready to get the job done. But lets face it...What good is a truck if you are not comfortable. Ron took care of this too. He contacted 'Stitchen by Steve' to do the incredible upholstery. He cleaned up the dash with Stewert Werner Wing series white faced gauges trimmed in chrome and machined his own aluminum shift knobs , dash knobs and more. And if that wasn't enough he added marble floors, a sunroof in the sleeper, mirrored closet doors an awesome mirrored back wall in the bunk. And what better way to enjoy all this then to enjoy it while listening to his Alpine tape deck with six disk CD changer through the Boston Acoustic speakers. This is definitely one "Sunrise" to remember.
